il testo è buffo, ma è un po’ un pretesto per le figure… ci sono delle creature notevoli.

Dunque il povero Jackson altro non è che un “turtle dog”. Uno dei rari esempi in cui la traduzione è più suggestiva dell’originale.
“Letters from a Lost Uncle”, per me, è una sorta di equivalente in prosa dei nonsense poems di Peake: semplicemente il prodotto di una immaginazione incontenibile.
Mi ha fatta sorridere un passaggio di “Under a canvas sky” – il libro di memorie di Clare Peake (la terzogenita)- in cui si racconta di un inverno londinese particolarmente gelido, ravvivato da un igloo che Peake costruì in giardino per la gioia dei figli. Sono sicura che Peake in quell’occasione si divertì un mondo a giocare, fra sé e sé, allo Zio Perduto.
